Master Suite Renovation
Designed by Richard Nichols Architect
A young family bought a 1930's Tudor house in Fairfield County, CT. The master suite, though sizable, was in a poor state and divided into many small rooms.
The location of the bedroom was decided upon first, giving views over the south lawn from the bed.
The other portions of the suite were organized into simple spaces, ensuring sunlight and air from the windows could illuminate all spaces.
Instead of the original cluttered layout, the new layout allowed for a large shower, freestanding tub in front of a window, and a large, framed vanity. The walk-in closet, rather than blocking the entry path, now anchors the end of the suite
